Entertaining for Two
When I visited my sister in Honolulu last fall, we didn’t have big plans: no dinners out, no excursions, no bucket-list adventures. Just a week of being together in her little condo, letting the breeze blow through the windows and the days unfold slowly.
One night, after work, we opened a bottle of red wine and pulled together what we had — a wedge of cheese, some fruit and crackers, a little salami, a handful of olives. I built us a board on the counter, nothing fancy, just enough for two.
We ended up on the floor, legs stretched out, leaning against the couch with our glasses in hand, picking at the board. At the same time, we talked, not about anything profound — just life, family, work, the things only a sister understands without explanation.
It was simple. But it felt full.
That’s what I love about a grazing board. It’s never just about the food. It’s about slowing down and creating a moment, making even a quiet night feel like something worth remembering.
You don’t need a crowd to entertain. Sometimes, all you need is someone you love, a bottle of red wine, and a little intention.
